Finding new and interesting ways to stimulate our children and encourage them to learn through play is sometimes a tricky task. Here at My Busy Bots we have put together 3 busy bags that will do just that! They focus on key Literacy and Numeracy skills in a new and unique way.

This bundle is suitable for little ones from 5 - 8 years old. As all children develop in their own time, this is a guideline and may vary with your child.

Bag 1: All aboard!

As grownups we take it for granted how familiar we are with uppercase and lowercase letters and which ones go together. As a child enters into the world of reading, writing, letters and phonics, this can be something that is really daunting and confusing for them. In this My Busy Bots busy bag, we have created a bright and colourful activity to help young learners go on a journey to discover and reinforce their understanding of uppercase and lowercase letters and which ones belong together.  All aboard little learners!

Contents:

  • 1 Information card with instructions and ideas to extend the activities and list of skills being developed
  • 7 Laminated activity cards
  • 26 Uppercase letter magnets
  • 1 Brightly coloured storage bag

Bag 2: Build-a-word

Compound words can open up a whole new way of looking at the words we say and how they can mean different things when put together. This My Busy Bots busy bag is a fun and memorable tool to show how two unrelated words can be combined to make a brand-new word. At this development stage, children are already familiar with how words can be decoded into sounds (like r-a-t), but compound words show them how words can be broken down into parts that have different meanings. A great help when learning to read bigger words!

Contents:

  • 1 Information card with instructions and ideas to extend the activities and list of skills being developed
  • 18 Laminated activity cards
  • 36 Laminated small cards
  • 1 Brightly coloured storage bag

Bag 3: Ripple effect…

These days dominos can be a foreign concept to children, they tend to only think of standing them up in a row, then knocking them down and watching the ripple effect as they fall (ooh, we do love doing that too). But in actual fact dominos have loads of educational value in Maths. They can help teach counting, estimation, number recognition, matching, adding and subtracting, perfect for learning through play. In this My Busy Bots busy bag children are able to explore numbers from 1-20 and how they work together in a new and fresh way.
